Prosecco Royal Hawaiian Cocktail

The Royal Hawaiian Cocktail has risen up to reign from the famous Waikiki Resort, also known as the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Honolulu! A fantastic, yummylicious, and beguiling cocktail that’s not only royal by name but also has bona fide royal roots.

That’s right.

Although, the exact history of the cocktail is unknown, the drink was previously named as Princess Kaiulani cocktail. And who was Princess Kaiulani? Well, Princess Kaiulani was the only child of Princess Miriam Likelike, and last heir to the throne of Hawaiian Kingdom.

It’s said that when the Hawaiian Kingdom was overthrown in 1893, the Crown Princess Kaiulani had put up a valiant fight, worthy of her stature – yet she still couldn’t preserve the Hawaiian monarchy. She honorably died at a young age of 23.

This cocktail was a tribute to her bravery and created in the year 1920. However, in the 1950s, the drink was renamed to Royal Hawaiian Cocktail, as per the hotel’s name.

We’ve recently discovered that this refreshing, opulent, and exotic summer drink, that is full of pineapple punch, marzipan undertones, and gin, partners well with any sparkling prosecco with fruity notes!

And we wanted to put it out there ASAP.

Ingredients

We suggest using Cinzano Prosecco in this recipe because of its soft touch yet significant fruity, fizzy, and fresh mouthfeel. It’s also used excessively in the making of Aperol Spritz.

  • 40ml Gin
  • 25ml Cinzano Prosecco
  • 30ml Pineapple juice
  • 15ml Lemon juice
  • 1tsp Orgeat Syrup
  • Pineapple wedge
  • A lot of crushed ice

The Equipment You Will Need

  • 1 x Standard Glass
  • 1 x Teaspoon
  • 1 x Shaker

How Do I Make The Prosecco Royal Hawaiian Cocktail?

  1. Pour everything except the crushed ice into the shaker, one by one. Add a part of the crushed ice in the shaker as well and shake furiously for 10-15 seconds.
  2. Pour the mixture back into the glass and top up with Cinzano Prosecco.
  3. Fill the glass with remaining crushed ice – remember to fill it up to the top.
  4. Garnish the glass with the pineapple wedge.
  5. Enjoy!

Do I Have To Be A Princess To Truly Enjoy This Cocktail?

Do you have to be a pornstar to truly be able to enjoy the Pornstar Martini? We don’t think so. So, you certainly don’t have to be the crown princess or a royalty either to free your palate from hibernation.

Jokes aside, you can have this cocktail all around the year but its best enjoyed when you’re super thirsty on a hot summer afternoon!
