Prosecco BlackBerry Mojito

The Prosecco Blackberry Mojito is a really adventurous cocktail. It is not too strong, and neither is it a plain glass of wine. The Mojito is a traditional Cuban drink that consists of white rum, sugar, lime juice, mint, and soda water. It is the perfect summer drink with a blend of citrus, herbs, and a sweet taste – my kind of drink – and it is commonly served on the rocks and garnished with mint or lime. Summer drinks really are my favorite because of the fruity taste and sweetness.

Most of the time, I get a bit scared of ordering Mojitos at bars because they are either not correctly made or too sweet. This does not mean I don’t love my sweet cocktails, I love my sweet cocktails, but not every sweet cocktail is made correctly.

I will be making the classic Mojito, but there is a twist. I will be adding blackberries and mint leaves. Also, there would be a step by step guide to making your own homemade syrup. The Prosecco I used for this recipe is the Stellina di Notte. I love, love, love the delicate bubbles in this Prosecco and the scent of mixed fruits like pear, melon, and lemon. It is not too sweet either.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 3 ounces Prosecco of the Stellina di Notte (or any other preferred Prosecco of choice)
  • 2 ounces club soda
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 6 mint leaves
  • 1½ ounce of lime juice
  • 3 blackberries
  • ¾ ounce of simple syrup (1 tablespoon of sugar)

Making Simple Syrup

  • Boil one-part sugar, one-part water in a pan.
  • Wait till the sugar fully dissolves into the liquid.
  • Pour out your syrup.

Method

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with blackberries, lime juice, syrup (or sugar), and mint leaves.
  2. Muddle the mixture until the ingredients are mixed evenly together.
  3. Add rum, Prosecco, ice, and shake for 15 seconds.
  4. Add the content to a serving glass filled with ice, and top off with club soda.
  5. Garnish with mint leaves and Blackberry.

Prosecco BlackBerry Mojito Tips

  • This is the best cocktail to cool off with during a hot day. The blackberries can be swapped for strawberries, raspberries, or cranberries or basically any fruit of choice.
  • The rum can be swapped with pineapple juice.
  • A Prosecco with a strong fruit base is highly recommended for this recipe.
  • Do not shred the mint leaves, just bruise them slightly so the juices can be released into the drink.
  • Nothing beats a cold glass of Prosecco BlackBerry Mojito, it can even be paired with banana bread.
