The name ‘Gancia’ originates from the name of its founder, Carlo Gancia, who was one of the pioneers in producing sparkling wine in Italy. This Italian wine-making company was found in 1850 in Turin, using Piedmont grape. The company is famous for its Gancia Apertivo Originale.
The American variation on this aperitif is traditionally served before meals and it is made by combining herbs such as sandalwood, wormwood, and orange with wine. The other offerings of Gancia Prosecco is the innovative sparkling wine that was first made by Carlo Gancia using the Classic method. Other wines produced by the company are made from grapes like Pinot noir, Brachetto, Chardonnay, and Pinot Biano. They have also recently released a New Prosecco Rose DOC in North America.

The Gancia Prosecco first came into existence in 1850. On a large commercialized scale, the wines were made 15 years later in 1865. Since then, Gancia Prosecco has been making sparkling as well as still wines. In December, Gancia released its latest offering of New Rose DOC Prosecco – 150 years and still going strong!
The Gancia Prosecco, especially the Premium Asti DOCG is credited as the first sparkling wine that was made using the classic method in Italy – after the owner Carlo Gancia got inspired from the art of making Champagne.
