The mixture of the light and vibrant taste of the Prosecco and the sweet and sourness of the Margherita goes amazingly well to form the Santa Margherita Prosecco Cocktail.
Santa Margherita’s are all-around fun drinks, and it weirdly reminds me of dimly lit bars and dancing at 3 am in the morning. It also reminds me of lounging by the fireplace in an oversized knitted sweater and pretending I’m reading a book. Santa Margherita’s are straightforward and easy to make cocktails. This drink, for some reason, gives me a kind of holiday vibe. Although it is not only drunk during the holidays. A Santa Margherita is an everyday drink.
The Margherita is a sour Mexican cocktail consisting of three primary ingredients; lime juice, tequila, and triple sec orange liqueur, often served in a glass with salt on the rim. The Margherita is the Spanish word for ‘daisy.’
A Margherita is a customizable drink which mainly depends on the kind of tequila used. For this recipe, I used an El Jimador Silver tequila. This one, in particular, is made with hand-harvested blue agave, and it has a smooth, dry finish, which is perfect for Santa Margherita cocktail. The great part about it is, you don’t have to spend your life’s budget on a bottle.
This cocktail can be made plain, that is, without any of the added fruits, or you can go the extra mile and add fruits. This is a perfect Summer cocktail. It makes a great addition to any kind of occasion plus it is extremely easy to make.

Tips
- For a nonalcoholic choice, replace tequila, triple sec, and Prosecco with sparkling water. A juice base like cranberry juice can be used also.
- If you prefer a more tart Margherita, equal parts elderflower liqueur, Margherita, and lime juice.
- If you prefer a less tart Margherita, allow the ice in the cocktail shaker to melt so it’ll dilute the drink and mellow the flavor.
- Try pairing this cocktail with a dish that compliments wine flavors like Seafood, cooked meat, wraps, or shrimp.
- You can increase the amount of Prosecco in your cocktail depending on how strong you want your cocktail be.
